The San Sebastian Winery opened in 1996 and has long been a favorite place to tour among vacationers in St. Augustine. St. Augustine has a long history and is known as the nation’s oldest city. When Gary Cox
and family in conjunction with Seavin, Inc. began the San Sebastian Winery they picked St. Augustine as the perfect second location for their winery and added to the city’s history of being the birthplace of American wines.
Visitors to the San Sebastian Winery will enjoy a guided walking tour of the massive, 18,000 square foot wine production facility and will learn about the aging and bottling process for a variety of wines. You’ll get to view the 5,000 gallon stainless steel tanks where the wines are fermented and stored prior to bottling and take a tour through the Oak Barrel room where the Port and Cream Sherry is aged to perfection. After taking a tour of the facilities you will be treated to a wine tasting experience downstairs in the tasting room. A trained attendant can walk you through the steps of how to taste, savor and enjoy a selection of table wines. Tours last for about an hour and visitors should be sure to stop by and browse through the wine shop which offers a variety of gifts and unique wines.
